Wasim Akram believes that even after a poor year in international cricket, Pakistan team has the potential to perform well in the World Cup but the PCB has not done any good to the team’s preparations by delaying the naming of the captain.
“Pakistan can be a dangerous team. No one can altogether write off Pakistan's chances in the World Cup. They have the capability to do well, but first and foremost the captain has to be named,” the legendary all-rounder said in an interview.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and New Zealand and was named as the Man-of-the-Match in the final against
England at Melbourne for his outstanding all-round performance.
Akram appreciated Misbah-ul-Haq’s performances as a batsman and captain in Test match cricket. However, he feels that it is too late to change the captain for the World Cup and Afridi should be retained as the captain especially after some impressive performances
in the series against New Zealand.
Akram said, “They came back well in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and it shows that Afridi has the skill. Last year he was the highest wicket taker and also one of the top run-getters for Pakistan. In my opinion, Afridi should be named Pakistan's captain. I don't know what
the PCB thinks about it.”
The cricketer-turned-commentator feels that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 would miss the services of Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif in the World Cup as both of them are world-class bowlers.
