Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 as a quality all-rounder, who should become a permanent part of the national T20 side due to his ability to perform under pressure.
Razzaq was among the heroes for the Green Shirts in the recently concluded nail-biting second T20I against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. The veteran all-rounder showed steely nerves and bowled an all-important last over before hitting a crucial boundary in the ‘Super Over’
to help his side clinch the three match T20I series in UAE.
Akram, the leading Pakistan wicket-taker with 414 Test and 502 ODI scalps, was all-praises for the 32-year-old, and called him an ‘asset’ for his side.
“Players like Razzaq induce confidence in young players when the team is under pressure,” Wasim told Geo. “He is an asset for the team.”
“He has the quality of handling pressure, which is rare among Pakistani cricketers. He doesn’t show any sign of pressure and even when the team is in dangerous position, he manages to keep calm,” The Pakistan great said.
After making his debut in 1996 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 as a bowling all-rounder, the right-hander became a permanent feature and remained the mainstay of the ODI format for over five years.
A combination of poor form and injuries cost him his spot in the Test and the ODI side, but he however, made a remarkable comeback for the 2009 T20 World Cup and helped his side clinch the tournament.
The right-hander has so far played in 46 Test matches (1946 runs at 28.61 and 100 wickets at 36.94), 265 ODI (5080 runs at 29.70 and 269 wickets at 31.83) and 28 T20Is (348 runs at 23.20 and 20 wickets at 18.45).
Akram further added that the all-rounder has time and again proved his critics wrong, and his recent performance is another reminder that he has a lot of cricket left in him.
“Tendulkar has been in the team even after crossing the 40-year mark. The nation supports him and we should also support our players. Razzaq is fit and he is around 32 so I think people should support him.”
The all-rounder has also been included in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming World T20 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 starting from September 18th.
