Wasim Akram credits http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-John-McDermott-c51704 for Oz pacers’ success – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani captain and legendary fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, has lavished praise on Australia’s bowling coach, Craig Mcdermott, for recruiting talented young pacers who are now earning massive victories for the team.
Akram opines that no other coach could have trained the bowlers as marvellously as Craig did with ‘top level consistency’.
The former pacer’s comments pertain to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the 1st Test of the four-match series.
In the game, which started on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the home pacers did an excellent job, wrapping up play on Day 4 for the winning cause.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197 outclassed the mighty Indian batting line-up, grabbing 6, 7 and 6 wickets respectively in both the innings.
Having restricted the giants to merely 169 runs, they powered their side to win the game by 122 runs.
Akram, who was present in the commentary box throughout the match, gives all the credit to Craig for this victory.
Talking to the media today, the ex-skipper said, “If Craig is telling them something, he can make a point. If there is a guy who only played first-class cricket and a couple of games here or there -- he can't tell them. He can have his theories but people
like Craig have been there and done it at the top level consistently.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bilal-Shafayat-c1162, who bagged 291 Test and 203 ODI wickets during his international career ranging from 1984 to 1996, demonstrated great diligence with the rookie pacers in the training camp prior to the start of this series. Putting his rich professional experience
on the field, he prepared the newcomers well for the mega task.
The Oz skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, has also attributed the victory to the hard work of Mcdermott and his bowlers.
Akram, who is regarded as the best left-arm pacer of all times, views that if the present contingent of the Kangaroo bowlers moves on with the same momentum, Team Australia can easily regain their lost pride and place in international cricket.
