Wasim Akram criticizes the omission of Pakistani players from IPL 2011
Former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, has slashed the Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) for not allowing its players to participate in the next edition of IPL. He has termed it as “miscommunication” on part of the IPL organisers and
PCB due to which the players will be snubbed from the next edition. He has also mentioned that this is going to dent the event in terms of fame. The auction ceremony is due to be held on the 8th of January, next year. The players from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 have
not been termed for the auction process, the PCB did not allegedly respond to the IPL request, whereas PCB officials claim that they were never kept in the loop.
“There is little doubt about the popularity of Pakistani cricketers in Twenty20 cricket,”
said Akram. “That is why I believe that the IPL will certainly miss exciting players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Abdul Razzaq.”

No Pakistani player has been included in the list of 416 cricketers, as stated by the IPL management. Thus, the auction next month will not witness any Pakistani player. While the IPL management blames the PCB for not showing interest,
the PCB has been saying over and over again that they did not receive any information or request from the IPL committee or the BCCI for this purpose.
Akram pointed out the incompetence that exists on both sides, yet the PCB should have taken the matter with a little more urgency. He blamed the PCB for not allowing the cricketers to exhibit their skills in this year’s edition,
following a denial to participate in the last edition as well.
Akram said that although discipline is important for the board to enforce, yet the players should have the freedom to participate in events such as the IPL.
“This is a platform for reconciliation” explained Akram. He was referring to the ties of the two nations, which have been volatile since ages. However, he made it clear that discipline should be the priority and the board is the one that has to make
sure that the attribute remains intact.
