http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 urges Team India to open the innings with Gautam Gambhir – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani skipper, Wasim Akram, has advised the Indian team management to have the left-handed batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, open the batting for the side on a permanent basis.
In the opening One Day International (ODI) of the ongoing five-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 opened the innings
for the Men in Blue.
However, Akram did not like the idea to start the innings with two less experienced batsmen and cited Gambhir as the best man to open for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739.
"I think the team management sees that Gambhir's future in the playing XI is at number three, but I would have definitely played him as an opener. Gambhir is one player who plays proper strokes
and with his ability he can win you matches on his own if he bats the 50 overs," said Akram who has worked with Gambhir during Indian Premier League (IPL) and recently-concluded Champions League T20 as the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
In the first ODI battle, held at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 and Rahane, failed to provide India the desired start and lost their wickets after gathering
nine and 15 runs respectively.
However, the Delhi-born batsman performed well under pressure and laid a solid platform for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.
Despite the absence of the experienced players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566, the new-look Indian bowling attack defended the total well and clinched an emphatic 126-victory
for the World Champions.
Akram is also impressed with Indian bowlers’ superb effort against the strong English batting line-up including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026.
The master of swing bowling shared, "Although the wicket was helpful, the inexperienced India bowlers bowled really well. Umesh (Yadav), I have said repeatedly, the guy has got pace and he
runs in well. He has a very good yorker too. He has got a bright future for India.”
