Wasim Bari, the former wicketkeeper batsman has been appointed as the Director of Education and Training programme in the PCB. The post has been created by the PCB as a part of their anti-corruption code following the spot-fixing controversy.
PCB has revised their anti-corruption in accordance with the ICC’s code of conduct in the aftermath of the spot-fixing controversy when the three Pakistan cricketers, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt were alleged for deliberately bowling no-balls
in the Lord’s Test match on the tour of England.
Wasim Bari, the former Chief Operating Officer said, “Cricket is facing new challenges but as custodian of the game we are committed to fight for its integrity and survival.
Previously, Pakistan Cricket Board was under the scrutiny of the International Cricket Council after they allowed the trio of alleged players to take part in the One Day Internationals against England. ICC provisionally suspended the tainted trio from all
forms of international and domestic cricket.
Furthermore, The ICC ordered PCB to bring their house in order in 30 days or otherwise, they would have been barred from playing international cricket. In response, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board worked on ICC’s recommendations to throw the corruption out of
their system. The PCB revised their anti-corruption code and in doing so, they made a seven-member committee in order to deal with illegal cricket activities in the country.
In addition, it is now mandatory for the players to get their agents approved by the PCB. Adding to this, the Board has implemented the education and training program in order to educate the upcoming players to refrain from illegal activities. The programme
also illustrates as how to stay away from spot-fixing and doping.
Bari added, "Players need to be trained and educated on what problems they may face while playing at international level. Pakistan is among the first boards to start implementing these codes at the domestic level. I am hopeful that with the right kind of
awareness we will be able to overcome this global issue of corruption in cricket."
Apart from his services as an international player, Wasim Bari has served as a National selector and Chief Operating officer in the PCB. Bari resigned as the COO of the Board last month and was replaced by Subhan Ahmed, who has been an administrator in the
board since 1994.
