Wasim Bari happy over the efficacy of Education and Training Programme – Cricket News Update
Wasim Bari, the supervisor of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board’s Education and Training Programme, said that the programme has played a significant role in bringing attitude improvements in players.
"There may not be clear benefits, but there are effects of the programme making their impact. Players who knew little about the dangers of corruption are now well aware of the menace," added Bari.
The PCB introduced the programme for the training and education of cricketers in the wake of last year’s spot-fixing incident, which left a negative image of Pakistan cricket all over the world.
The spot-fixing incident was seen in August last year, when three Pakistani cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, at Lord’s.
As a result of this, the trio was handed heavy bans by the International Cricket Council's (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) anti-corruption tribunal in February, 2011.
Following the scandal, the PCB adopted the policy of zero tolerance and started its best efforts to root out every kind of corruption from national cricket in a bid to restore Pakistan cricket's lost image.
The Education and Training Programme was the part of PCB’s effort to rectify the inherent wrongs in the system. It provided the cricketers proper training and education, teaching them the importance of following rules and regulations.
Bari revealed that the PCB has taken detailed guidelines from the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) in order to apply them in the upcoming domestic season.
"The success of the programme can be gauged from the fact that we've hardly had any scandals since its inception," he pointed out.
Speaking further on the Training and Education Programme, Bari said that he had also arranged a session with the Pakistan squad before they set off for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
"It's a programme which will continue to evolve with changes," Bari asserted.
