'Watch me disappear' it was called. It depicted the lives of two people who died alone and undiscovered for ages with no-one noticing they were even dead. It was striking to find both the deceased were black, which makes it even more alarming as I'm black, single and live alone.

This could easily happen to anyone as I am beginning to find as everyone you know couples off and settle down, they become increasingly self absorbed, only caring about themselves and their

spouses.

Seems your only noticed in a partnership.

  1. It's not that you are only noticed in a relationship, it's that in a relationship there is someone there to notice.

Anyway, I'm watching the cricket so I didn't see it

  2. Going to watch it on +1. Will be back.

Well, shocking. It is so easy for a person who lives alone to become almost a recluse or in a routine which doesn't invole anyone else, but tolive on an estate with 700 other people makes me feel disappointed as I ive in a block of 12 flats and I don't know them at all-just my immediate neighbour.

It really looked so easy to be like that too and maybe communities (if there is such a thing) could do more to stop such a sad thing happening. Who even has street parties anymore? It wouldn't be such a bad idea to get people together, would it?

A sad programme about our un-caring society.

  3. it was sad of course ,but i think it was less about dying alone than about living your life isolated from others and without significant connections ..They both had sunk beneath the radar because of their own particular problems .He had money, studying and immigration problems and I feel that she had some mental health issues due to the death of those close to her.Its not living alone thats the problem but how one lives and whether you have a network of people that you keep in touch with. So don't worry too much.

I dont think its about an un-caring society, altho' of course we are a bit insular-those two had removed themselves from society for their own reasons-don't be too pessimistic.
