Question:

Wasp in the microwave oven?

I placed a small plate with a sausage roll in my microwave today. A few seconds of nuking later, there were flashed of light and crackling - exactly as if there were a metallic material in there.

I took the plate out and saw a wasp (dead by now) in there. I wanted to know whether my roll had metal in it, so turned the oven back on. The same thing happened.

I took the wasp out and it did not.

Why would a wasp react like that?

Is there a material that reacted?
