Question:

Wasp nest in my 2nd floor apt. window?

I found a wasp nest in my window. I've heard of wasp spray, but I am scared to open the window because the nest is on the top, nestled in between the window and the storm window. To complicate things further, I'm on the second floor of a building that is in a historic district and so is a couple hundred years old. Very tall stories. The ground is conservatively 30ft down from the top of the window (where the nest is). Anybody know how to safely remove this nest?

  1. ive constantly had problems with bees where i live (PA, also historical homes).  I would strategize not opening the window for fear of bees getting in your place (obviously).  I might suggest getting wasp spray that can shoot a stream of poison (most cans can do 20 feet easily).  my next suggestion is to explain to the neighbors and landlord that you will need a ladder to spray the d**n bees so you can clear enough distance to hit them with spray.  after you have hit them with the spray (assuming there is a screen there), wait a day and remove the nest with a pair of gloves.

in your case, there is a storm window, which means they have gotten in between them somehow.  since its an apartment, you could ask the landlord to take a look at it and take care of it.  hope this helps.  best wishes.
