Question:

Wasp nest trouble?

by  |  earlier

Wasps have been seen entering a hole in wall.

Are they nesting in the cavity wall material? They seem busy and hole is close to ground near where our kids pass by daily.

Any safe solutions or ideas?

Do I need to call out the waspbusters or can I deal with it?

Suggestions please friends!

  1. I would either spray wasp spray into the hole or tape it up for a while.

If the hole is a weep hole in a brick wall you should not permantly close it but if the hole isn't needed I would permantly close it off with material similar to what the wall is.

  2. Buy a can of spray at the Hardware store . if the hole is large enough spray directly into it.

  3. If you know the exact location of the hole, you can spray after the sun goes down and it's not quite dark. Don't use a flashlight.  Wasps and bees generally tuck up for the night.  Wasp sprays often come in a spray that allows you to stand back about 3 feet and shoot.  Do this every night until the problem is solved.  Wasps don't set up big colonies like bees.  Professional help should not be necessary unless your efforts don't meet with success.

  4. seal off the hole witch caulk.
