Wasps can breathe underwater?

Question

My friend and I were keeping watch over a bunch of kids. Soon they catch a wasp in a butterfly net and then they decide to drown it in the pool. So they set the net underwater and wait. But after like 5 minutes the wasp is STILL trying to get out of the net and it's crawling underwater. The kids take the net out to see if it's dead but it flies out of the net and escapes. Seriously how long can those things stay underwater?
