  1. Chewed up Bark- the wasps spit it out to make the nest

  2. we had a huge one in the garage roof last week - it seemed they had gobbled wood off the rafters and turned it into a paper like substance. The structure is incredible!

  3. Wasps nests are made by them chewing wood into a kind of fine saw dust they then add spit to this mixture so it comes out soft then when this drys it becomes surprisingly hard :)

  4. Usually a pulp made from wood or paper.  They chomp up bits of wood cellulose and then stick it all together to form a nest.

  5. wasp spit

  6. Chewed up wood - takes on the texture of very fragile paper - amazing stuff.
