Waste and recycle..?

Question

has your local council issued you with food waste bins'..

and if so.. do you think the rise in council tax , will cover the cost of sending someone round to wash them after they have been emptied.. as we cannot line them with bin bags..

i don't fancy doing it.. would you ?...

We have them in my city since the early 90s in USA.  The trash use to go to a landfill 2 cities away and another one in my city, now it goes to recycling centers where it is sold to companies that want the resources, while the non recycle trash goes to an incubator that turns trash into electricity.

You can also sell metals and glass to the recycling centers too.

What use to be the landfill is now a parking lot, while the other one is an office building

Yes we have food bins but thankfully we're allowed to line the bins with starch bags. Keeps them clean.

if you have a garden start a compost heap instead of filling the bin. other than that try cooking and wasting less food. i think re-cycling is all for the good of the world we live in.

Thats a new one on me.

Is it not unreasonable for the people using these bins to clean them themselves, rather than expecting the council to do it for them? And if you can't be bothered to clean the bin, then just don't use it and throw rubbish away as normal.

I've got 3 different bins, but none of those bins take glass or plastic. I've got a mountain of glass bottles and jars and another mountain of plastic bottles that I have to take to the recycling centre.

I'm paying more for my council tax, yet I'm having to do the work that the binmen used to do?! I don't understand it.

Not yet...but all this will lead to tears one day when some new incurable disease breaks out.

Seems as if the rear of my house is a mini recycling centre

I feel as if I am working for the council

All this for them to ship it abroad 1000miles to be recycled elsewhere and we dont get the benefit

Hi Poppyday we get issued with Recycling bags not very often mind you, and we have a wheelie bin and our bin tags is €6 every fortnight they are collected.....

I live in a fourth floor flat,the council told me to put my waste on a compost heap.

That sounds disgusting.  Imagine on a hot summers day.

Think I would invest in a pressure washer.

Hope they don't come up with that one here in the

near future.
