Wastegate question for my eclipse..

Does my Garrett T25 need the wastegate? I'm sure the boost isn't enough for the engine, wouldn't removing the wastegate provide more boost? Even with EBC?

  1. Dude, your turbo already has an internal wastegate.  And no, you don't need to change to an external one.  Boost controllers work by holding the wastegate shut, hence the word "Waste" it diverts exhaust flow around the turbo once the boost level has been reached so no more boost can be built.  If you removed the wastegate, you would not build boost at all, you can do this by removing the cotterpin that holds the wastegate actuator to the wastegate valve on the turbo; it won't harm the engine, ittl just be running NA aka sloooowwww.  Wiki it and read up!
