got my first car at 16 years old and i had to pay for it myself cuz my mom couldnt afford to get me one and it was a pontiac grandam and it was seriously junk it costed me 500 dollars and that was all i could afford cuz i was going to school and only working a lil.....i wanted the car so i wouldnt have to walk to school cuz i went to alternative school and no buses where provided

havn't gotten one yet...my dad got one at 14 since he had his lisence then...mom got hers at 18. I'm looking for one to buy currently and I'm almost 17. Although I didn't have a car of my own, my sister couldn't have one at college, so I drove hers.

I got mine when I was 16 and got my license. It was my mom's old mini van, she bought herself a new car, so my parents gave that to me. It was a 94 Plymouth Voyager. The body was blue, and had a green back door on it, so I called it the "Ghetto Van" LMAO! Ah, the memories.

I was 16 when I got my first car.  A 1967 Pontiac GTO.  400 cubic inches, 4 speed, four barrel carb, duel exhaust, fire engine red.  Would fry the back tires at will.

It was pretty used up when I got it.  But it taught me how to work on cars.  I couldn't afford a mechanic every time I broke it.  So I got good at fixing it myself.  Over the years with this car I replaced a couple of clutches, a couple of transmissions, a differential, a few universal joints, and a couple of engines.  Each time I fixed it I built it a little stronger.

If I wouldn't have abused it so badly, it wouldn't have given me so much trouble.  But I was young and foolish when I got it.

Wish I had it now.  It's worth a lot of money now.

It was two weeks after my sixteenth birthday, a week and a half after I got my Drivers. It was a 1991 Chevy Silverado ext cab with a 5-spd and the old 350. I drove the h**l out of that truck for almost three years, put three clutches into it, a rear end, and had many "first" experiences in it. retired it at about 435 000 km's when I dropped first gear in the tranny trying to beat my 52 foot burnout in the school parking lot. Best 5 bucks I ever spent, thanks dad!
