balsa wood w/ a good sealer on it. maybe a household product in a plastic bottle, cut about 1/8 of it off while laying on it's side.

You have had a few good suggestions.  You could also consider an aluminum soda can or plastic - plastic soda bottles might work or other types of plastic containers.
