  1. You would write any and all research about the coloured light (strength/wavelength of the light, wavelength of that particular coloured light). You can include basic research about light in general if it is relevant to the experiment or if it would help the reader understand your experiment more. You should write about the cellophane more specifically after you have just talked about the basic light properties.

Also, make sure to write about your plant. Talk about how light should (and has been documented in other experiments) affect plants and specifically the plant in your experiment. Talk about its properties, like how long it usually takes to bloom, the type of plant it falls under, why its a good plant to use for your experiment (e.g. pea plant: quick to grow, not complex, easy to reproduce, etc).

If it's related to any of the major words in your experimental question, you should go into depth about it. Start out talking about general stuff (properties of all light, of all plants, plant cycle as affected by light and without light, etc) and get more specific to your specific question. And talk about the effect of no light on plants.

  2. In your background research, you should include some research that you have conducted on the strengths and wavelengths of different colour, how cellophane manages to filter out certain wavelengths of light to produce its specific colour and explain how the sun covers the full spectrum of colours and as a result how filtering out some light will affect the growth of the plant

You should also probably try to include some previous scientific investigations that have been carried out on that experiment. The website below could be used for some preliminary background research.

You might also want to research some characteristics of the plant that you are using for your experiment, to see if it has any unique features to make it act differently to other plants in different light.
