  1. an english pitbull is not a pitbull, it is a mixed breed with certain characteristics that are similar, i.e. red/ chocoate nose etc. I have a red nose pit and she is the best with my autistic 8year old brother.

  2. I think you really should be able to master the English language before you try to master a potentially deadly dog.

  3. I have a friend that has two pitbulls and they are the nicest dogs you could ever meet.

  4. Pit bulls are wonderful dogs. The reason why there are so many attacks is how many were treated, inbred, nervous owners afraid to socialize their dog, and the law of percentages. Millions and millions of pit bulls, .000385% of them attack. So out of 1 million, you will get 385 attacks, but 999,615 that don't. Pit bulls and pit mixes make up about 20% of the country's dog population. So, obviously, you have that many millions of one breed, of course there is going to be a whole bunch of incidents. That is called using common sense. Any breed can turn, even Pomeranians can turn out deadly, and have, under the right circumstances.

  5. i know people that have had them from puppys then one day they just turn and attack for no reason. ,even the family raised ones.

    i would be wary .

  6. They're misunderstood, get a bad rap, blah blah blah blah blah.

Seriously. This question is asked 5 times a day -- usually by someone who can't spell.

What do I think about Pit Bulls? Honestly? I think 75% of them are owned and bred by idiots who have destroyed the breed.

ADD: No, wait, I lied. 85%.

  7. They should be DESTROYED my friend had one and it was the nicest dog you could meet until one day it ripped her 3 year old sons face apart for ABSOULTLY NOTHING !!!!!!!!

  8. I know they can be as nice and docile as any other dog.  My concern is; if and when they do bite or attack it is at full force and they inflict as much damage as they can.  I just could not trust one with my kids.  I say, why take the chance when there are similar looking breeds that are not as aggressive like the Bulldog or a Boxer.

I have no Pitbulls or Staffis in my area they are all in the south end of my city while my area (north end) has Boxers, Bulldogs, French Mastiffs, Goldens & Labs, Shih Tzus, 'designer dogs', etc., etc.

As you can see... in my city the Pits belong to the low income earners.  That is just how it is.

  9. i would be careful while around them.... they can turn on you at any time  no matter how the bond is between you guys.... careful :p

  10. I think every dog is different. Good and bad in all dogs, but they do have a bad name. I've met some that aren't nice and others that are. I don't trust them much though...

  11. Like dobies, rots and shepards, pits have a bad rep as far as I'm concerned.  Like people, they should be judged individually.  When we were younger/still at home, my brother got a dobie mix and I was "freaked".  She turned out being the biggest lap baby we'd ever had.  Later on he got a pit/boxer mix and she was sweet enough that he had no concern about her being around his 2 year old.  Unfortunately she came from the shelter and developed distemper; we had to have her put down.  But until she got sick, she was a sweetheart.

  12. i love pit bulls and basically all other bully breeds, but I think stupid people have turned the original breed into something different.  Pit bulls were originally bred to be dog aaggressive  When a dog showed any signs of aggression to a human it was usually euthanized or fixed so those genes weren't passed down.  I have a blue pit that is a certified therapy dog.  I got him when he was 11wks.  Too many people sell these dog at 4-5wks to make a quick buck.  These dogs have no idea how to be a dog.  The mother teaches them.

There are many breeds much worse than a pit.  Presa canarios and filas com to mind.  Filas were used to "hunt down" escaped slaves from plantations.

If anyone wants a pit they should be RESPONSIBLE.

  13. There is no such thing as an english pit bull there is an english bull terrier but that is a completely different breed.  I have five of them and they are the best behaved dogs I have every owned.  Two of my dogs are confiscated fighting dogs and are now living in a home with three other dogs.  I'm not saying that it will be that way will all of them but I got lucky and had to put a lot of time and trust in them.  I would choose a pit bull over a doxi or a chihuahua any day.   In the new kennel clubtemperamentt testing the doxi and the Chihuahuau rated the lowest and the pit bull and theRottweilerr rated average or above.

  14. It's a very nice breed. Irrespective of its breed, if your dog is scared by kids, you should look out for its reaction when some kids approach it. When a dog is scared by something, it usually attacks. Take care! Bye

  15. Sharp teeth.

  16. I have mixed feelings about this breed. I do not trust this breed.

  17. I love them. I have one she is 4 years old and I've had her since she was a puppy. She is great with my 11month old daughter and my 3 year old nephew. She is very well behaved and one of the best dogs I have ever had.

  18. I so agree with Loki Wolfchild. I don't think the breed is bad i think the people who breed the dogs is messed up. Serioulsy pitbulls can be good if you train them right.

  19. i love pit bulls. they're beautiful animals and it sucks that people are so afraid of them. yes they do have a death-grip jaw and can easily kill someone in an instant but if they were all so horrible why would the ones i know actually back off when my little bichon growls? she's a tiny dog that they can swallow whole if they wanted, instead they turn around and hide.

they are sweet and loving so long as you treat them with respect. i'm not saying you don't have to be cautious around them but for god's sake they're not monsters!!!

  20. Pitbulls can often snap when they get older. With most dogs it is the owner thats the problem and with some pitbulls that is the case too but it is something in their breeds genetics that makes them lose it. Good dogs to have if you are aware that this could happen.

  21. not my favourite breed of dog, but i think they look cute.

  22. My uncle has one and she's a sweetie! but shed's like crazy. she got her ears clipped so now she looks super cute. my dog shows her teeth like she's smiling and my uncle's dog does it too. its soo adorable

  23. My mother has a pitbull and a rottweiler.  They both love me and when I come over I get kisses all over, but if someone comes over they don't know....I will be more afraid of the rottweiler than I would the pittbull.  Missy (pittbull) is such a lover, but when you give her a bone, beware she gets protective.

  24. I think they're cute and awesome dogs. However, although I wouldn't say I'm afraid of them, I am a bit cautious around them as one did chase me down and jump on top of me back in elementary school. Overall though, they're pretty cool.

  25. I love them I just think there rewind by all the bad press, at the end of the day everything bad that they are know for is OUR fault not theirs. I have 3 (English) Bull Terriers and they are my life I love my baby's so much and it is totally returned by them 100%.

  26. I think they're one of the most misunderstood breeds we have. The media and all this bullcrap people are spouting are making them outcasts. It's horrible.

I've met several in my journeys to pet stores and parks, and every single time the owner is flabbergasted (and oh so happy) when i introduce myself (and my dog) to them and ask to say hello. Several times they will say "Oh look (dogs name), someone's finally come to say hello!"

I've introduced myself to hundreds that live in my area. None of them have been anything but happy and friendly. I've introduced my dog to several and have never had a problem. Ever. She actually does better with them than any other dog/breed she's met - doesn't even jump on them, just wiggles around their legs all happy and they go off and play for a few minutes.

Sure not all Pits are like this, but many are and people are just too blinded by gossip to see it.

  27. luv em

  28. I love them. Too bad they get a bad wrap.  They are the best behaved dogs at the dog beach.

  29. very unpretictable

  30. awesome dog, l never owned one but l worked in a shelter with 9 of them. I was afraid of them until l helped out..now they dont scare me.

  31. I think the hype and hysteria associated with Pits is simply crazy. I read that more Rotties attack people easch year, than Pits. Any dog can be aggressive and any dog can be trained to behave and be good around kids. It just takes time, patience and love!

I wanted to get a Pit, but my hubby has bought into the media frenzy and would not let me get one! I think that's c**p! We are getting a Boxer because they have a more loving and kids-friendly reputation.
