I think he was a misogynistic b@$tard, who threw his entire country into turmoil because he couldn't keep it in his pants, and then threw away Ann when he found someone younger.  However...history shows him as a clever leader who led England through difficult times.

He was certainly an egoistic and self-centred man. But I also believe he had some sort of charisma. He also established the Church of England (forget the reasons), was quite an able ruler, and was father to Elizabeth I. And he certainly knew how to leave his mark in History because even today we don't stop talking about him.
