  1. They are mostly scams. Try your city library most of them have trained  volunteers to assist and show you the way. Phone beforehand to find out the dates and times they are there.

    Take your information with you.

  2. www.ancestry.com

  3. I played with Ancestry.com without paying for the service and got nowhere.  I doubt the paid version is any better.

Best luck I've had was just thinking up search terms and using Google and other random search engines. I even found a long dead uncles Social Security number somehow!

As the web goes, people love to talk about themselves and families, just like on the phone!  It really seems that all the personal information you need is out here somewhere.... try looking up what's-her-name!

  4. THEY'RE ALL SCAMS: If U "go back" far enuff we're ALL related -  so what's the point ?

  5. I don't know how good Ancestry is for other parts of the world but I have a subscription to access their UK records and found it very good.

You need to be more specific if you want more useful answers, what time place etc. Also may help to ask here> Arts & Humanities > Genealogy.

A good website for links is www.cyndislist.com

  6. This is the Royalty section.  I think you'll get a better response to your question and more help if you post it at Arts & Humanities > Genealogy.

    best of luck to you!
