Moonshine is illegal liqueur, that people make in secret, to keep from paying liqueur taxes, using a still. It was made a lot during prohibition, along with bath tub gin, and bath tub beer. And a lot of mountain folks make it to sell and not pay taxes. Did you ever watch the original movie, Walking Tall, not the remake with The Rock? It had a lot about bootlegging (making illegal whiskey) in it.
