  1. What *I've* seen advertised that way are generic dishes that are meant to sort of resemble asian ethic foods (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)... but sort of fall short, due to being "dumbed down" for popular consumption.

"Pan Asian" seems to be the new advertising gimmik to recognize the fact that what restaurants call "Chinese" or "Japanese" food really doesn't resemble ethinic foods at all.  So they don't claim to be any single ethnic food group anymore, they go for a generic overall Asian sort of conglomerate taste.

    *shrug*

  2. Pan Asian spans all of southern Asia it encompasses Thai, Malaysian, Phillipine, Southern Indian & Japanese cooking - it is basically "Fusion" cooking, bringing together ingredients & flavours from each ethnic group.

  3. IT IS A MIXTURE OF ASIAN AND LOCAL FOODS MIXED

    TO MAKE A NEW DISH.

IE. SCOTLAND HAS 'HAGGIS' AND IF YOU MIX IT WITH AN ASIAN CULTURE FOOD LIKE A CURRY, YOU GET CURRIED HAGGIS!
