he will make mistakes, when he does use them against him

  2. What kind of mindset?

Confidence. A persevering thought that you will not and cannot lose. That too much is at stake...

There are all kinds of things, and generally it is what works for you.

If you are a family man you think: This guy wants to take food from my kids mouth, he wants to defile my wife... he wants us to be poor... he has the AUDACITY to show up here and try to fight me.

If you are a young dude you think: This guy is in my way for my success. He is just a piece of meat, and I am a lion. He is the reason I have had to suffer so much in training...This dude is a punk, there is no way I am losing. There isn't anything this guy has I don't have an answer for. I am going to take him into my world...

If you are like me you think: This guy is the reason I have had to be celibate for 6 weeks, the reason I have had to do all that running till I puke. He is standing in my way, telling me "I can't beat him" he has the nerve to think that, I will not lose. I will fight my fight, force him into where he is weak at.

I mean it all depends, you have to do what you can do mentally to turn it on. So that when the bell rings you are good to go, and it doesn't take getting hit once or twice to wake you up to the fact that this is a fight.

Ideally as a mind set, you want to calm, confident, and relaxed. You know that nothing bad is going to happen to you, that win or lose everything is fine. But more importantly the guy has disrespected the h**l out of you for showing up. For challenging you.

When it is all said and done, the respect after the battle comes.

But before the fight... this guy has done every bad thing you can think of, and is calling you out. But you have the tools to beat him, and you will beat him.

The truth is your approach to it varies from person to person. Some guys work well off of anger. Some guys work well off of sheer confidence.

If you work well off of anger, make sure you are the type that controls and focuses it. That you don't go all out straight out of the gate, that you take your time, see your openings, and then when you hit, you hit with bad intentions.

Some guys work best under pressure, so the "everything on the line" mentality works for them.

Other guys who don't do so well under pressure the "this is just like a more intense sparring match, a walk in the park, same stuff you do everyday"

I could throw a lot of stuff down here, but in reality it is your Coach who knows you, who can help you out with the frame of mine to get into, because he knows how you work.

    Good luck!
