  1. the first one doesnt make sense smart one.

  2. The second has a singular subject and a singular predicate which makes sense and is proper grammatically speaking.  The first has a singular subject and a plural predicate, which has nothing to do with anything right.  This must be a joke to be categorized under "Trivia".  Let me know when you get a good punch-line.

  3. Your multiple personalities in the first version.

No, seriously, were is the plural past of the verb to be, and it is what is used for the subjunctive mood (preceding the phrase by "if" as mentioned before).  So if you're using the indicative (stating something that is certain) then you use the singular form, which is was.

  4. "I were in tears" is plain wrong. "I was in tears" is correct.

You might say, "Were I in tears that day, she might not have left me." that is more like wishful thinking, just as you might say, "If I were the prime minister".

  5. if you wanted to say 'were' you would have to change 'I' to 'we' because were is the plural of was. the 2nd sentence makes sense though

  6. the first question has wrong grammar and does not make much sense when referring to past tense, present or any other time tense! obviously and the second grammar is correct and makes a lot sense!, that easy if you analyze it!

  7. "I was in tears" actually makes sense

  8. I were in tears is gramatically incorrect.

  9. One is grammatically correct (I was in tears) while the other (I were in tears) is not.

  10. mix up of singular and plural

  11. I think correct is " I was in tears",whereas I were in tears looks to wrong word and may be written as "we were in tears".

  12. were is plural, and since your using "I" then its singluar as it only talks about one thing. there for was is correct.

  13. in the first one you mixed up singular and plural verbs or nouns. you'd have to use "was" to make the subject (I) agree. If you wanted to use "were", you'd have to have an agreeable subject, such as "they".

  14. The first one is just Stupid!!!!

  15. The first one, ...I were in tears... is the conditional form and is only correct if preceded by "if", for example,

He would believe I was upset only if I were in tears.

    vs.

He knew I was upset because I was in tears.

It's like saying, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
