  1. I AM a Cathay Pacific frequent flyer and have flown JAL in business class a few times recently, and from my experiences Cathay is a better airline than JAL, in terms of food and in- flight entertainment in particular, with service being comparable on the two airlines. In economy class and especially in business class Cathay was in my opinion, far   superior to JAL. In terms of airline lounges, Cathay's Hong Kong lounges are much better, with many more services than JAL's Narita lounges. I've also flown Singapore Airlines a few times and would have to rate them amongst the very best. Thai Airways is also a very good airline that I've flown within the last year. Have a look at what Skytrax says about these airlines, Cathay and Singapore are among only five airlines in the world that receive a 5-star rating:

  2. Alitalia-Italy......nd lufthansa which is germany.....nd Bulgaria Air

  3. I agree with John:  I would be totally shocked to see any American airlines on the list of "best."

My personal favorite is KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) because of their attentive flight crews, excellent meals and above average seating. The seats, even in economy, have adjustable head rests and some planes offer a row of seats with only two seat and extra storage room on the side of the wall seat for no extra charge. Regardless of class, you can reserve a meal preference in advance and the list is extensive. The flight crew is by every hour or so to offer beverages and snacks were always available in a basket in the galley. The flight crew was polite and congenial and very attentive.

On the way home, the flight was not full. The flight staff announced this before take-off and asked if anyone was interested in changing their seats to have more room. They made a list and moved every single passenger that asked. I understand that this is not possible on many flights, but I liked that they offered the opportunity rather than waiting to be asked and then only accommodating those that had asked.  I highly recommend KLM and it is the first airline I look for when booking new tickets.

  4. Singapore airlines, Malaysia airlines, emirates,Cathay, aeromexico

  5. I AM A STRONG EMIRATES FAN !!!

  6. JAL is up there, along with Qatar, Air France (my personal favorite), and Singapore.  By the way, Lufthansa is the German airline you're probably thinking of.  I can't vouch for too many others, but I can safely say no American-based airlines will make this list =)

You might get a bunch of answers saying "Cathay!" from people who've never actually flown with them but have heard a bit about the airline, but trust me, don't believe ay of the hype.  I didn't find it to be much nicer than an average international flight.  The new J seats are too narrow, and the way they're angled makes it impossible to see out of the window.  The food wasn't anything special and the divider is next to useless, too.

  7. Delta their alot more than other air lines but awsome ! Great service unlimited snacks and drinks coach is like first class !

  8. For US airlines, Continental is by far the nicest I've been on!! I'd say they are almost as good as most international carriers too.  They give free meals even in economy class on longer domestic flights, they're nice and actually happy to have customers, and overall just a good airline.  No wonder they're in better financial shape than most US airlines.  International airlines that are good:  SAS, KLM, Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, and Singapore Airlines are the nicest I've flown.
