  5. Luisito Espinosa.  He was featherweight champion of the world for five years and made 7 successful title defenses before losing the crown in controversial fashion in 99 to Cesar Soto, whom he had out-slicked and outboxed a few years earlier in Manila.  He also won the bantamweight crown in the late 80's, making him one of the few Filipino boxing champions who won titles in different weight classes.  "Lindol" (Earthquake), as he was known, was a talented fighter, with terrific handspeed, superb footwork, a la Sugar Ray Leonard, and devastating power in both fists.  Sadly, he became victim of busted promotions, greedy promoters and a scheming and meddling wife who sucked him dry of his wealth.  Now, he's a storekeeper at Costco somewhere in the Bay Area.  But he was one of the great Filipino boxers of all time, probably up there among the top 3, along with Pacman and Flash Elorde.

  6. Pancho Villa was probably one of the best of all time although he unfortunately died at the young age of 23 he had a record of 91-8-4

If I'm not mistaken Gerry Penalosa was one of Manny Pacquaio's heros and within the last year he managed to win the WBO bantamweight title from Mexican boxer Jhonny Gonzalez although at 35 he is probably in the final stages of his career. I remember he was an underdog and so I cheered him on yet he has successfully defended the title after that.

It seems there are many good boxers from the Philipines rising up these days including the Donaire's, Rey Bautista and others.

  7. ano ang pinakapaboritong boksingero ko maliban kay pacquiao?

hirap eh. lahat ng boksingero, tao.

(fine, it has to be gerry penalosa... he beat the **** out of daniel ponce de leon and he knows it. that fight was obviously a judging mistake)

  8. my husband.
