start small & local or you'll get overwhelmed. here are things I do:

- reuse dishes & glasses when appropriate so I wash less

- air dry my clothes 90% then use the dryer to fluff & finish the job. saves energy.

- recycle everything you can. in addition to the regular stuff, I recycle all plastic bags and wrappers. I keep them in a bag and bring them to the grocery store when I go.

- reuse grocery bags

- change the way you drive. don't use gas when approaching a red light, just glide in. don't tailgate. the more you use gas, brake, gas, the more gas you waste. i have a hybrid that keeps track of MPGs, and it's AMAZING how much gas it saves to drive a little gentler.

- make sure your tires have the right pressure.

- when you buy a new car spend the extra $ on a hybrid.

- walk when you can.

- save rain water in a bucket & use it to water your plants.

- when you have to buy new appliances spend the extra $ to get them more energy efficient

- dress weather-appropriate instead of turning up the heat or AC

- unplug stuff that you don't use often...charges, kitchen stuff (coffee maker, etc.), VCR, etc. The plugs drain a small amount of energy that adds up over time.

- start using natural cleaning products instead of chemicals. not much more expensive at places like trader joe's.

these are all very minor changes that don't impact my life negatively so they're easy to do.
