  1. Disadvantages

        * require dedicated desk space (smaller cases can reduce clutter and take up less space)

        * fixed position means more time is needed to plan their location

        * each requires a dedicated network point and power point to reduce safety hazards

        * can use over four times more electricity than laptops

        * might require additional lighting, chairs and other furnishings

        * lack of ‘ownership’ of the computer might mean students take less care, resulting in more damage

        * cannot be taken home for use outside school hours.

  2. It also takes more energy to run and also usually is a lot louder than a laptop. It has more wires connected to it (making it more cluttered) since the keyboard, moues, speakers, and monitor must be connected separately and are not integrated like a laptop.

  3. Nothing. Those are really the only disadvantages besides it using a little more electricity. like maybe a dollar? lol, i don't know. But anyway, I have a laptop and a computer and I like the laptop because it's portable, but when I want to get down to business, I like the desktop because it's in an office environment, and it just always makes me get more work done.

  4. complications in reassembling. connecting hundreds of cables wires uffffffffff

  5. It is actually more of an advantage to have a desktop as

you can store more space and often run faster!! but the

only advantage of a laptop for me personally is being able to

travel anywhere in the house with the internet running!!

  6. other than that ,nothing, nothing at all. other than is is portable the desktop is superior to laptops in every way

  7. Power usage, the average laptop doesn't use over 100 watts, some semi gaming laptops use around 120 watts and high end 3 harddrive dual sli graphics card laptops with desktop processors use about 200, compared to a very high end desktop which will use atleast 500 for 1 or 2 graphics cards and several harddrives.

Convenience, you can bring it anywhere in the house with you, you aren't limited to one room, sort of goes with portability, but the portability in the home is a big factor

Desktops also leave more garbage behind when you want to dispose of them

Put out more heat from hotter components.

  8. Um, nothing really.

But if you are wanting a desktop computer that doesn't take up as much space, grab an iMac - they are just the screen, no harddrive box at all. Then they become easy to move; not taking up much space! Just isn't quite as portable as a laptop...

  9. i would say you named them all.

there are more disadvantages to a laptop than a desktop.

desktops have a lot more room to upgrade ram, hard disk space, video cards. it's easier to buy a bigger monitor plus, cheaper to upgrade these for a desktop.

laptops are compact which is nice and may use less power, but are usually not upgradeable, which will cost more in the long run to stay more up to date with the changing of technology than saving a few dollars a month on electricity.

  10. With today’s tech I would say the only downer is that you also have to buy a monitor. you can get away with no wires what so ever these days (with the exception of power, go wireless ftw) and you can get mini towers that take next to no space.
