  1. You can do pretty much anything, just running up and down your stairs is great cardio.

Not exactly sure what you have access to, but lunges, and squats are always good even with out any weight.

Scroll down there are 2 good bodyweight leg excercises there, and that whole site is a real good site.

  2. Running up and down your stairs is a good one and I'm not sure what you'd call it but where you just stand there and jump, pumping your knees as high as you can.

  3. Get two equally-weighted dumbells.  Ones that are heavy enough to add a good amount of weight to your existing body weight but that you can carry at your sides, one in each hand, for about one minute at a time.

Then, with the weights in hand, climb stairs.  Go both up and then down the set of stairs as "one set".  If you need still more weight, buy a sturdy backpack and a large container of water and put the water in the backpack.  Put this on your back, grab a hold of the weights, and climb those stairs once again.

Now, if you do not have stairs to work with.  Use the aformentioned weights on a level surface, and walk forward while touching the ground with your back knee on each step.  This is a very common gym exercise that can be done at home.

Remember to keep your back straight when using these weights or you run the risk of hurting your lower back and I can, as well as millions of others, tell you this injury really sucks!

Good luck and good legs!  Trust me, do these exercises and you will feel the burn!
