  1. please do not let them go.  try craigslist.com to try and find them a new home.

  2. I had a red eared slider before. It isn't the best idea to let it go. It won't know how to find itself food or how to avoid predators. If you want them to live in the wild, consider taking it to your local wildlife rehabilitation center and see if they can do anything about it. If not, call your local pet stores. Also, you could consider asking around to see if anyone with a pond in their yard would be willing to take him. Just make sure he is confined and has regular feedings. Or, the simpler decision, don't fill the tank up fully, so that way they can't reach the filters. If your filter is lower, put something up to block it so they can't get near it.

    Best of luck :]

  3. DO NOT RELEASE THE TURTLES!

Red-ears (and other species) have become established PESTS in many parts of the world, damaging native ecosystems, due to ignorant reptile keepers releasing them.

If you no longer want them, contact your local herpetological society. Don't release them!

  4. they can safely be released back into the wild and they will

revert to being wild almost instantly, just make sure that it is a good pond or lake

  5. oh please don't do that.

Ask Petco if they will take them, they have slider adoptions at my Petco.

I am in Orange county, calif I will take them. I have 4. Two are 36 and a 8 yr old and a 5 yr old..and they are in a big pond stocked with feeder goldfish.

If they are breaking thier filters that means they need a larger enviroment..alsopcheck out this link for a turtle vet/turtle adoption in your city and state

    ***Contact the “herpetologicalsocieties.com“.

  6. NoNONONO!!! Dont let them free. There captive, if you release them they will die. A local Pet Store May take them. Give them away.

  7. Set the turtles free in a deep pond that won't dry up. That would be the best thing for your turtles.

  8. Red ear sliders are not native from Florida, but can now be found all over. It has gotten to the point that they are illegal to sell in pet store now, because so many people have set them free. It is true that they do great when released in the wild, but, they quickly spread and take over the habitats of the native animals. If you can not keep them, find a zoo or something to take them in.
