Scientists obviously did not invent talking. Depending on your beliefs we were created so we could talk, or over time we needed a way to communicate so we evolved into talking beings.

Read "The Language Instinct" by Stephen Pinker.  Awesome, awesome book.

Scientists didn't invent talking-- speach is something hardwired into everyone's brain.  Even if we weren't taught a language, we would create our own language to comunicate.

erm. matey, scientist diddnt invent talking. Countries developed tier own languages between groups, and the language in time spread across the country and then overseas. And now we are our where we are today, with the french talking aload of bollox :D .
