Our tortoise chases us all the time - when we put food in for him.  Luckily for us, he's only a little over 4 inches long.  He's nipped fingers before, trying to get the lettuce, but his mouth is not big enough to take in a whole finger!!  He sure can move surprisingly fast for a turtle!!

Wear bright clothes. walk up 100 feet away from the chasing turtle and retie my sneakers. As it approaches 10 feet, I walk another distance of 100 feet and retie my shorts. As the slower than the O.J. Simpson chase continues, I'll learn how to play the harmonica, maybe play with Monica, learn a new language, go to SuperCuts, floss my teeth, go watch a chess game, trim my finger nails, trim my toe nails, heck might as well trim my nose hairs. One of us is gonna get bored.

OK how fast can a turtle "run".  i don't think i would worry about it.

Are you serious?

If you are then I would check to see what kind of turtle and if its bites or not. And if it were a biting turtle then I would cross the street it would follow and nature would take its course if you know what i mean?!

Depending on the size of the snapper, and how angry it is?  Run quickly out of range, and look back.  But - that doesn't always suffice, and the retreat must continue!

I have been chased by a large and P.O.ed snapper.  I was more worried for my daughter, than me, but - it got the adrenalin pumping, none the less.

Usually when I am chased by something I run away. I have a tortoise and she does chase me sometimes but she isn't very fast. Faster than I thought she would have been, but not fast enough. I would probably just walk away, slowly. Slowly back away from the turtle! I repeat, slowly back away from the turtle.
