Watch second hand

The second hand on my watch just recently only moves in 4 second intervals every 4 seconds. Is this possibly due to a low battery? The watch is less that 3 months old and I would hate to have to send it to the manufacturer for warranty repairs.

My Tag just started doing the same thing. The second hand stops then moves in 4 second increments.
