I don't think many people understand how fossil fuels have benefited human beings. For goodness sake, the world's societies are considering taxing the very air we exhale. Try to grasp that, and see that this issue is much deeper and fundamental than our earth heating up a few degrees. I encourage you to watch, at 7 eastern. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Don't buy into the biggest scam every perpetuated on man-kind. I guess this helps me understand how so many people were able to follow guys like Hitler.

  1. [Environmentalists are not pro-Earth so much as anti-human.]

I agree with this statement. It's well put. From 'Plaster Pasta Master'

  2. The biggest problem with global warming is that, carbon dioxide is not a poisonous, permanently insulating gas as is being taught.  Environmentalists are not pro-Earth so much as anti-human.  They would sooner see people die to save the Earth than to allow gas-fired electric generators for tribes in Africa, for people who have to burn elephant p**p for heating and cooking.

Edit:  Yes, thumbs down, but when I heard about this, that's what turned me off about accepting global warming.  I realized how big of a lie it really was and is.

  3. U are right ,but do not bee to hard on them as they have been brain washed by there teachers and the Democratic party. They will do anything to block drilling.

  4. "hitler"?

"tax the air we exhale"? wtf has that to do with fossil fuels? when does this tax come in then? i'm a heavy breather myself so that's a bit worrying lol!

less than a sixth of the world's people have 'benefited' from fossil fuels, and they are not the ones most at risk from it's mis-use.

  5. Interesting rant... (adding a question mark at the end of a statement doesn't make it a question). But to try and answer this non-question: No, I won't. Simply because "tonight" has already passed for me and that the History channel is not available in my country without a satellite dish.

    Now, for the rest:

Please cite a source for your ludicruous claim that "the world's societies are considering taxing the very air we exhale": This looks suspiciously like the typical denier falsehood that they hope will stick in the minds of the gullible and naive - it actually has more in common with Goebbel's hate propoganda than anything AGW proponents do (to carry on your distasteful n**i analogy).

Many people have benefited from fossil fuel use but many more have benefited much less. Many people benefited from slavery, blood diamonds, encouraging war, corruption, crime, etc. Doesn't make any of these things right. You show your own n**i-like leanings yourself with this "the ends justify the means" logic.

No one says that fossil fuels weren't useful (we wouldn't have developed such a dependence upon them if they weren't) but lead pipes were useful to Roman plumbers - it killed them.

It is time that we, as civilised societies, recognised the harm our actions have. especially to others who don't share the benefits to the same degree as us. It is also time that we recognised that fossil fuels are a finite resource and that the planet only has a limited capacity to absorb our excesses before the balance is disrupted.

This attitude is not belligerent nor unthinking. Instead it demonstrates maturity, a realistic and intelligent assessment of the situation, high moral and a good ethical sense.

P.S. I really cannot understand why you say "look at history" to bolster your argument. When I look at history, I see untold misery and destruction brought about by the use of fossil fuels. Nevermind that mechanised warfare (killing millions) would not have been possible without fossil fuels, the desire to control fossil fuels have caused more misery and destruction than any other cause (excepting, perhaps, religion) and it continues to this day - Iraq, anyone?

  6. The scam known as global warming has certainly fooled a lot of people.  There's no doubt about that.  Our school systems have to start teaching our kids about scams and manipulation, instead of instilling it in them by preaching the global warming religion.

Time will tell for sure and attitudes will change, but...how much money must be wasted trying to fight a fable until then?

  7. There's no doubt that over the past 200 -300 years, the exploitation of fossil fuels has made possible IMMENSE changes for the better in human living standards.

The burning of coal, oil and natural gas really has helped to lift countless people out of poverty.

But does the fact that fossil fuels have been "good" in raising living standards keep them from being "bad" in terms of producing destructive climate change?

    I don't think so.  That's a totally different question.

And according to most of the climate scientists who have looked into this question, the continuing use of fossil fuels by human civilization is going to trigger major changes in world climate conditions that could bring disaster on our heads within the next 30 years or so.

So you're right when you celebrate the wealth and the improvements in human life that fossil fuels have made possible, and even the Greenest environmentalist needs to recognize that.  Maybe we should celebrate the great energy pioneers of western history as heroes.

But I think you're wrong if you then conclude that it makes sense to keep burning fossil fuels, even when the climate scientists are warning us how destructive to human society and natural ecosystems they will be.

It's time to celebrate the fossil fuel age, but to move on, to a greener and more sustainable way of handling energy.
