Question:

Watching Netflix on my TV from my laptop?

I have a 6-ft HDMI-To-DVI Cable hooked up to my tv and laptop. I'm not seeing my PC on my TV. So, I went to Control Panel, Display, Settings. There were two choices under "Display" and there were two choices, but both of them were the same and neither show on my TV "(Multiple Monitors) on ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Series" Even when I change the TV to HDMI "channel" nothing shows.

Where am I going wrong? I'm not too smart at this stuff... I called Best Buy and they looked on the internet for both my TV and my laptop and they determined these connectors for me. Then, I went to radio shack for the equipment. I must still be doing something wrong. Can someone walk me through it?

Thanks.

  1. 1. Make sure that TV is set at correct channel:HDMI.

    2. You should see your PC screen on your TV. IF not, your PC setting is not correct.

    3. The easiest way is to re-boot your PC with the cable connected, hope your window system is smart enough to set-up for you.

    4. If that does not work, you need figure out that by yourself. Depending on PC, there should be some keys like function and screens in key board. You should be able to send you PC screen to your TV by pressing them. Check you PC manu for detail instructions.

  2. Most Tv's do not accept a computer signal through the HDMI input.  Best way to hook laptop up the TV is through a designated PC input on the TV such as RGB.  A few TVs such as Sharp use a desiginated DVI.

Best Buy employees do not know anything.
