Watchthat Stripe runs to strong finish in A2 race at Hall Green
When the greyhounds race at the Hall Green Greyhound Stadium, everyone watches intently. Every bend in the 480m track brings more excitement that keeps the audience on the edges of their
seats.
Watchthat Stripe was the dog to watch in A2 race, held during another action-packed race meeting. The 2-1 favourite had a strong start from trap three, moving quickly away from the pack
and always leading to claim the top spot in 28.92. Second place belonged to Dukes Jester (3-1), who moved slowly away, but ran on to finish in 29.16, 3 lengths out of first place.
Crannaghbeg Tico (4-1) held an early pace, and was always handy. He raced to a 29.22 finish that placed him ¾ lengths behind Dukes Jester, which gave him third place. Missing a top-three
finish by 1¼ lengths Ardera Fernando (7-2). He moved slowly away, bumped first, and ran on to finish in 29.32.
Fifth place went to Olgas Rocket (6-1), who had an early pace and a clear run, finishing 2 lengths behind Ardera Fernando with a time of 29.48. Home Sandra (4-1) moved slowly away and
badly bumped first, resulting in a loss of 6¾ lengths. She went on to complete the race in 30.02.
Leckwith Frank’s early pace from trap three helped him to win the A3 race that followed. The 4-5 favourite went on to lead third, which gave him the win with a time of 28.85. Ryans Light
(10-1) was a big surprise in the number two spot. He held an early pace, but was forced to check first. He lost 4½ lengths in the process, finishing the race in 29.21.
Supreme Jive (5-1) was the third-place finisher. She moved very slowly away and crowded the quarter mark to finish in 29.22, which was a head’s length out of second place. Beathebag (6-1)
moved quickly away, went wide, and led to third to finish ¾ lengths out of the top three in 29.28.
Baran Helsinki (10-1) moved slowly away from the rest of the pack, and ran on to finish the race in 29.29, a head’s length behind Beathebag. Rounding out the pack was Marigold Miller (3-1).
He moved very slowly away, went wide, and crowded the quarter, losing 3¾ lengths as a result. His finishing time of 29.59 gave him last place.
