  1. I personally play winter polo to keep in shape. check out clubs with pools near you and see if they offer winter polo.

  2. Hey, Im a freshman too, I swim year round and play polo for the season.  Joining a swim team would totally help you out and keep you in great shape.  Does your school do off-season training?  If it does then you should stay with that.  But if it doesn't and you want to do another sport during winter season, you should join that but swim on the side, like maybe 2-5 times a week, that way you won't get out of shape.

Personally I think joining a year round swim league is the best choice because then you have a coach to push you.

Some other ways to keep in shape would be to run, crunch, lift weights and do arm bands.

    Good luck :]]

  3. Get a horse that can hold his breath for a really long time.  That should help a lot.

  4. The sooner you can join the swim team the better.  In the meantime, you should get a membership at your local pool (like the YMCA or something) and train on your own during lane swims or free swims.  It's good to have a short break in the off-season, but you should definitely start swimming again soon. Weight training and cardio are also important, so you should make a habit of going to the gym at least 3-4 times a week.  You should also do some long distance jogging daily (people might tell you that running is not important for water polo, but it really improves your endurance while swimming).  If you started all season last year, you really shouldn't have anything to worry about because you are probably already a good athlete.  So keep in shape and good luck with your team!

  5. Swim clubs in the off season and club polo if your city offers a year round program.  Any cross training such as running, push ups, sit ups, and weight lifting will also help.

  6. im a water polo coach and i always tell my kids to run run run run!!!!... do stadiums (up and down the stairs) or the stairstepper. Lift weights and get your arms/especially shoulders stronger. Crunchs, knock downs... get your abs toned/stronger. Keep it up about four to five days a week and you should be even better than you were before.

  7. well my coach keeps us very active and has us in all kinds of leagues during our off season to keep us in shape but i joined a outside swim team to keep in shape but if you cant do either of those then try doing some land workouts like running and make sure you keep your arms in shape for when season comes along.
