Water exercises?

Is it good to do exercise in the water? For ex: I go running in the pool and make several laps around it running until my legs get so tired that I can not run any longer. Is this just as good as running on land or am I not getting the same effect?

  1. My doctor wanted me to get more aerobic exercise and recommended aqua aerobics.  My feet would swell from my long distances walking.  The water gives more resistance yet reduces the impact.  In the long run the pool sounds like it will give you more strength and do less harm to your joints.

    and swimming is said to be better cause your taking all the stress of you joints and bones instead of running

  3. no, it's a lot harder because you're using your whole body to push through water. water is a lot denser than air, so it'll give you a better workout. that's hard though, you're strong, i'd trip or something. haha, i'll stick to swimming.

  4. water exercise is double to land exercise. So for example 1 mi on land is like 2mi in the water.
