NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona/Texas A&M University/Handout has said they found water on mars, but the images looks fake cause there is no sunlight shadow movement in two photo's.

Do you agree ?

  1. They are not fake but the questions that arise are very interesting. 1) Where did the water come from in the first place ? 2) What happened to it ? & 3) When was there flowing water on Mars ? Of coarse this all leads to the possible existence of life on Mars which should be answered one way or the other very soon !

  2. No.  Water was indeed found... water has a unique spectral image/mass which was easily determined by the cameras onboard the lander.  And even if the cameras were not equipt to verifiably determine the matter/visible specimen, then simple physics could easily determine what the specimen in question was, based upon basic instrumentation readings on the surface (variable changes).

  3. Actually, the shadows are NOT identical between the two. There are subtle differences. As others have noted, the pictures are simply taken at the same time of day.

I looked closely, and can see places where shadows don't hit exactly the same features in the scoop mark. Take another look. The pattern of the frost changes noticeably between the two shots as well.

Besides - like others said - NASA isn't some big front feeding us all kinds of fake stuff. NASA isn't even the only organization sending probes to Mars. USA isn't the only country doing so. To send back faked images taken by unmanned vehicles is simply ludicrous. Why fake them? There's no space race or anything like that. If we made fake pics of Mars, we'd look pretty foolish when other countries' probes looked at the sites the forgeries claim to document, and show them to be fake.

  4. You are correct about the lack of change in the shadow in the two pictures but, NASA is a very syetematic and organized group of people.  They most likely had the mars lander take the two pictures at precisely the same time from precisely the same place so that any changes at all would be noted almost immediately.  This is not necessarily water by the way but possibly ice crystals uncovered and has not been declared by NASA to be water just yet.  It is only a promising indication there may be some hint of water in the surface.  I can see no reason for a conspiracy here or government plot to convince us there is water on Mars.  Other than scientists who really cares?

  5. As other said if the pictures were both taken at the same time of the martian day then the shadows will look the same.  Water, or frozen water, has been known to exist on Mars for a long time now, the Viking craft took photos of frost on the surface at times (late 1970s).  The question is how much water is there now, thought to be mostly in perma-frost.

  6. The pictures were taken at the same moment of the day

    peace

  7. The picture are not fakes. Grow up.
