  1. It might just be tiny air bubbles in the water. Do the specks go away after a few minutes?

  2. Jellyfish eggs.

  3. White Specks

White specks in your water are most likely caused either by deterioration of the dip tube in your hot water heater or calcium precipitate. Place the white specks in vinegar. If they float, it is a deteriorating dip tube and you need to replace it. If the specks react by fizzing in the vinegar, it is calcium precipitate. You can flush the lines in your home by letting water run freely out of the faucets for a few minutes. You may also want to consider a home water treatment filter unit to remove calcium from your water.

  4. Have you considered asking your neighbours if they have the same problem?

Also, it may be the water pipes in your home. We had a similar problem before we had our house replumbed.

  5. If the water is just cloudy and clears up after 1/2 hour or so, it's caused by dissolved air in the water.

However, if you can see definite specks, it probably mineral deposits in the tap.  Just unscrew the end of the tap (if you have one) and give soak it in white vinegar, then give it a good scrub.  Then scrub the end and just inside the tap, again with white vinegar.  See if this solves the problem.

You don't say if you're using mains, tank or bore water.  If it's mains, and the problem continues, then contact your supplier.  For tank water, you might want to look at all the filters and clean then up.  For bore water, there's really nothing you can do.

EDIT:  Read Holly's response, and follow what she suggested about running water through the lines for a few minutes, then do what I suggested and clean the tap filters etc.
