  1. She gave you the antibiotics as an emergency measure.

The urine sample will be sent to a lab for culture and sensitivity--that means that they will find out which" bugs" are causing your problem and the appropriate antibiotic to zap them.

It probably will be the antibiotic she has given you, but if not you will get a prescription for another one instead.

Drink lots of bland fluids to flush out the bacteria!

  2. It's not a "water infection" or "bladder infection" but a UTI. (urinary tract infection) It's a bacteterial infection and although painful it will go away quickly with the antibiotics, Providing you take the antibiotics till they are finished and don't stop half way you will be right as rain in no time. Look on internet for the causes. There are many. Good luck.

  3. I have had water infections before, I've acctually had it twice and I don't know how I got it at all, my doctor did exactly the same as you but she didn't say why I got it, I think maybe sometimes it just randomly happens.

  4. My gf had EXACTLY the same symptoms as you, and her doc also said water infection, not bladder infection. I suppose the urine sample is to double-check that the diagnosis is correct, it's one of those things where they know from experience that there is a 99% chance they are right, but it doesn't hurt to double-check that there is no extra hidden problem??

  5. I'm pretty sure you misunderstood what the doctor said - it's not a "water" infection, it's a "bladder" infection.  You have the classic symptoms and antibiotics are needed once you get to the phase you're at.  If you had started cranberry juice at the first onset of symptoms you may have been able to flush the bacteria, but once the blood shows it's too far gone.  You can get AZT over-the-counter at the pharmacy to help with the discomfort.
