We live in the suburbs so I driveway is quite short. Near the top of the driveway by the house the concrete dips down just a mite and the rainwater flows across that dip and over the edge of the driveway and under our house by the foundation. I was going to stick some black plastic to prevent it from going there, but I noticed there is a gap under the driveway so the water would just pool under there then.

Now, I'm thinking that I shoulder create a border on top of each of the two sides going down our driveway to raise it up. This way the rainwater wouldn't fall off the sides anymore. How do I go about doing this? Is there a concrete mold I have to buy? Would this work in redirecting the rainwater. I'm wanting it to go down our driveway instead of across that dip. :(

  1. It sounds like the water has already found a place to go.  If you don't solve that problem first it will come back to haunt you.

I would start by solving digging out a hole along the side of the drive way so you can see how big the hole under the driveway is.  Then get some class 5 gravel, shovel it in there and tamp it down tight.  Once you have it full things are built up again, get some grass established as quick as you can to help stabilize the soil.  The border idea isn't necessarily bad, but make sure you correct the damage already done before implementing it.

    Good Luck.

  2. they make a black irrigation tubing, similar to the drainage for septic system.just find one with no holes in it.run it on the side of the drive that the water is going down.do you have a down spout for your gutters? connect it to that.
