Water isn't feeding in to my dishwasher. It was the last time I used it. What can I do to remedy it.

Nothing has changed and there are no leaks. My normal water supply is fine. It's as if there is a blockage to the dishwasher. There's a drip of water when I turn it on but nothing else. The program works too. Just no water.

  1. one of two things is happening.

    1. youre dishwasher drain is clogged.

if that is the case there will be water in the bottom of the dishwasher. just look at the bottom to see. if there is standing water, thats your problem. If the dishwasher already has water in it, a sensor will recognize it and not allow any more to come in.

    2. the valve to the dishwasher is turned off, corroded up, or the water supply line from that valve to the dishwasher is kinked. Usually this valve is located under the sink. Turn it a few times in both directions, if possible, turn it off by turning the valve all the way to the right, disconnect the line to the dishwasher and then turn the valve on again with a bucket or pitcher underneath to make sure water is coming out.

  2. it's your float valve probably (the little can shaped thingie close to the door i believe.  it's located on the bottom where the water sits.  take a toothpick or a needle or something and push down in the little holes on top (gently) see if that works.  you may want to spray something down in there (in the holes) that cleans away mineral deposits and such. (like CLR) but don't let it sit too long.  after using the CLR, run the dishwasher without any dishes in it and let it run all the way through.  you may want to repeat this to get all the CLR out.

  3. water valves can fill up with sediment from the water heater, first check the float inside the bottom of the d/w see if something is not stuck under it lift the float up and down and listen for a click from the switch below. clr should not be used in a d/w read the bottle first.

  4. Sound like the inlet solenoid may be bad.

  5. I'd call a plumber. There could be some switch that blocks the water from coming in.
