Water leak in basement -Help !?

My house is not below the waterline. I also have a functional sump pump. Despite that, about 500 sq yard area got soaked with water after yesterday's heavy rain. Basement has daylight windows but I don't see any seepage thought the windows or wall. The floor ( where the leaked water soaked the rug)however has a few crack, could the water be coming form the floor cracks --??? What is going on ..what should I do, please help!

YEs the water will and can percolate up through the cracks in the floor.  This can be a very difficult problem to correct.  It is hard to help without knowing the whole lay of the land and geography around you.  There are everything from curtain drains to B-dry systems to help with this.

4500 square feet is a huge leak so i don't guess it was caused by the ac condensate drain.

First, check to see if the water is entering from a drain, that may be somewhere on the floor. If so block off the drain, at least until by trench digging and pipe-laying etc. you can eliminate the high water level outside, that may temporary due to the collection of rain.

If the floor has cracks that's also something needing an investigation and could certainly be the cause. I suppose the floor is concrete. It is possible to seal off these cracks once the floor is dry.
