Water leak underground High Grass?

I have a water bill that is double of what it normally is I checked for leaks and found nothing have only used regular amount we normally do I live in a trailor court we have a meter on the side of my trailer for the water used but I noticed close to the meter that the grass was really tall usually tall in 1 small part of the yard could this indicate a water leak underground and if so who should pay to fix this problem me or the trailer court I own the trailer not the lot it sits on and could this leak be making my bill high the high grass is like 10 ft from my meter??????

Normally the water company is responsible for the leak if it is on the supply line opposite your incoming water line to your trailer.  from the meter to your trailer the customer is responsible.  As far as who pays you or your landlord, I don't know what kind of agreement you have with the landlord.  If he/she is responsible for the maintenance for the trailer park property, I would say it is his responsibility to fix the leak and maybe pay for the high bill.  Did you report this high bill to him/her?  The tall grass could be where a leak is, but sometimes grass grows thicker and higher when you have a field line to a septic tank. I hope this info helps a little, but I would report this to the landlord asap.  Ask the water company to check their lines for leaks.

It does sound like a leak. It should be the land owners responsibility to have the leak fixed but check your contract to make sure.

You should only be paying for the amount of water that goes through the meter. If the grass is high before the meter, it may be a leak but should not be registering on your meter or bill. Look at the meter while no water is turned on in your home. You should see a small red triangle. This is a leak detector device. It moves when even small amounts of water are flowing through the meter. If the leak is before the meter, it should be the landowners responsibility. The most typical culprit for water usage that goes undetected is a leaking flapper on toilets. You can determine if this is the problem by pouring a couple cups of black coffee (liquid no grounds) into the tank. If the flapper is leaking, the water in the bowl will change colors after a short amount of time.
