I just moved into this new apt complex..it was actually just built. But due to faulty construction when it rained waterleaked from the balcony abov eus into the corner of one of out walls. Now there is this water stain. The complex doesnt see it as a big deal but i don't want them to just paint over it.I feel like if we wait a few months mold could form behind our walls. I think the only solution would be to tear down the wall and rebuild it. I know thats drastic but cant the mold cause a big problem? Are there better solutions?

  1. After the leak has been repaired, you can paint over the stain with Kilz, which will seal the stain.  Then you can paint over the Kilz with regular wall paint and the stain won't bleed through.,

  2. It may lead to a mold problem. But, it may very well not. Not every minor leak is a sure fire mold emergency. What's important is that the route the water traveled into the framing has been dealt with. Once the potential for more leaks has been eliminated, let them paint. Keep an eye on it, but chances are it'll be fine. Good luck!

  3. go to your building managers door, knock on it, when he/she opens the door start beating on them mercilessly. then say "ARE YOU GONNA FIX MY WALL? HUH? $%^^$%^^!!!!" that'll show em

  4. You have to find out where the leak is coming from first and then tackle the wall. This is a big problem and don't let the complex tell you that its not. If you don't fix it now, you will be sorry later. You cant paint over a water stain. Cut out the stain and replace it with new drywall but like i said, you have to find the source of the leak and stop it now before it gets worse.
