Question:

Water line is plugged?

I placed about two pieces of white bread into 1/2" OD copper before sweating on a spigot that leads outside. The bread, stopping moisture in getting into the flux, worked well. Too well. It is clogged, and will not come out, even with full pressure. There are 2 - 90 degree elbows before leading outside, and about a foot and a half of pipe. Are there are tricks of the trade that can help me unclog the line?

  1. Shut your water off and take the valve assembly apart on the spigot.  The run a wire coat hanger through the spigot and back into the pipe.  That should break the bread loose and allow it to push out when you turn the water back on.

  2. There is nothing quite like a shade tree plumber, the old bread trick is super old school.. If the pieces are small enough to clear the elbows them they are at the valve outside, you may have to remove the valve stem this may well  let the bread balls out.. Keep us posted. My  question to you is why didn't you drain the water before you started soldering?

  3. put a hose on the hose bib and from another source water supply hit it that way kink and unkink hose to hammer it.
