Water logged Boat?

Last year we towed someone broke down for about 6 Miles, when I went to untie the line from the back of my boat I found the Tow loop had pulled through the transom, I imediatly started testing the transom and found it was totaly trash, when removing the inner transom for replacement I found were the water had entered through the mounting bolts of the swim platform, sowmone had replaced the platform and never sealed it. now with a new transom and have been parked for the last 3 month,s I still have a puddle of water under the boat at the drain area. the engine and outdrive are still out and it is in out of the weather,( I get 10 to 12 drops of water a minute into b bucket), could it be water loged? and will it dry out before Summer? I really dont want to go drilling holes in the hull.

  1. Probably still waterlogged. Offer a surveyor 50 bucks to hit it with a moisture meter.

Another option may be condensation? Try putting some heat in it first...but...you may need to get to drilling...just do it on the inside and fill with thickened epoxy.

    sucks, I feel for ya.

And on the subject...how about an 1.25" or whatever size hole matches your shop vac hose on the inside? Put  $5 timer on the shopvac and leave it in the boat for a couple days.

good luck chasing it down, Bud.

  2. What make of boat ? Cored hull or solid fiberglass?  If your boat is solid fiberglass you likely have a tank leaking water, or areas holding standing water.  Is your drain plug sealed to the transom or are you discribing bilge water?  You should contact a competent Marine Surveyor here www.marinesurvey.org.
