Water meter key (street key wrench) standard?

Question

Did anybody know water meter key or street key wrench should meet which standard?

Please let me know?

Are you talking about the key they use to open the lid or the one they use to turn on the valve?

Most don't need a key to open it....just a screwdriver....then an adjustable wrench can be used to turn the water on.

Just be aware that some cities can stick you with a heavy fine for turning that valve on or off...and if it has a pad lock on it....NO WAY do you want to touch it.

there is one size with different length of handles.  as stated above, use caution.  if you break the meter, there are serious fines.
